What is PTSD?

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that occurs after an individual has experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. While it is normal to experience fear or distress after a traumatic event, PTSD occurs when these symptoms persist for a prolonged period (typically for more than a month) and interfere with a person's daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. PTSD is characterized by a range of symptoms, including flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety, and emotional numbness, which can be triggered by reminders of the traumatic event.
